![]() ![]() Mind you, these costed about $400 per speaker. What was recommended to try was the Jantzen Superior Z caps. These speakers deserve good caps, so I was open to any ideas. Brought life back to the speakers and sounded pretty good.Ī few months ago, I reached out to a fellow AKer for recommendations for a "better" cap to rebuild the crossovers than standard caps from PE. The sound was now more similar to the original caps. So frustrated with the sound, I replaced them with basic caps from Parts Express. For some reason with the ESS speakers, the Dayton's were very disappointing- no depth, thin and basically lifeless compared to the OEM caps. My first go around was rebuilding the crossovers with Dayton Polys, based on a lot of positive feedback on AK. The original Owner kept them in the original boxes in a closet for some 25 years when I purchased them several years ago locally. Mint condition, all original and I'm the 2nd owner. I have a pair of ESS Monitors, the 2 way design with passive radiator. ![]() ![]() I wanted to share my experience with these excellent capacitors ![]()
